We sell instruments, PA systems, stage lighting, studio equipment and DJ gear to people who have to rely on them — working bands, worship teams, schools, studios and event companies across Kenya.
1Who we are
City Music Hub is a Kenyan music equipment retailer serving working musicians, worship teams, schools, studios, DJs and event companies. We stock instruments, PA and live-sound systems, stage lighting, studio recording equipment and DJ gear, from entry-level instruments for a student's first year through to rigs that have to survive a full touring season.
We started the shop because buying equipment here was harder than it needed to be. Prices were opaque, specifications were vague, and too often the advice you got depended on what somebody needed to move that week. We wanted a shop where the person behind the counter plays, where the description on the page matches what is in the box, and where the price is the price.
You will find us at Sukumawiki Building, Tiriki Lane, off Luthuli Avenue, Nairobi — near the luthuli avenue / river road junction. It is a short walk from River Road, and you are welcome to come in and play something before you decide.
2What we stock
Musical instruments. Acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitars, keyboards and stage pianos, drum kits, cymbals and percussion, plus the strings, heads, sticks, stands and cases that keep them working.
PA and live sound. Mixing desks, powered and passive speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, processors, wired and wireless microphones, stage boxes and monitoring — for a church hall, a school assembly, a wedding ground or a club.
Stage lighting and effects. Moving heads, par cans, beams, wash lights, hazers and smoke machines, and the DMX control and cabling that ties them together.
Studio and recording. Audio interfaces, condenser and dynamic microphones, studio monitors and headphones, outboard processing, MIDI controllers and acoustic treatment.
DJ equipment. Controllers, mixers, media players, turntables and booth monitors built to work all night without dropping out.
3How we work
We check gear before it goes out. Instruments are inspected and set up, and electronics are powered on and tested, before they leave the shop. It is a small thing that saves everybody a wasted journey.
We answer the question you actually asked. If a cheaper mixer does what you need, we will say so. If the speaker you have chosen will not fill the room you have described, we will say that too. A customer who buys the wrong rig once does not come back.
We describe things honestly. Our product pages set out real specifications and what an item is genuinely suited to. Where a finish or a bundled accessory varies between production runs, we will tell you rather than let the photograph speak for itself.
We stay reachable after the sale. Setup questions, a fault, a warranty claim two months later — the same number answers.

5Buying from us
You can order through this website with M-Pesa at checkout, message us on WhatsApp and arrange it in a conversation, or call and talk it through. Many customers prefer to ask a few questions first, and we would rather have that conversation than take an order for the wrong thing.
We deliver across Kenya and you are always welcome to collect in person — particularly worth it for an instrument you would like to play before you commit. For bulk orders, school and church budgets, and installations, ask us for a quotation.
6Why buy from a music shop
Musical equipment is one of the few categories where the wrong purchase is not just disappointing, it is unusable. A speaker rated for a small room will distort and eventually fail in a hall. A microphone chosen for its price will pick up every reflection in an untreated room. A guitar that has never been set up will buzz on the frets and put a beginner off the instrument entirely.
General retailers sell on specification sheets, because a specification sheet is all they have. We sell on what the equipment is actually like to use — how a desk behaves when a volunteer has to run it on a Sunday morning, which cymbals survive a school music room, which interface stops giving trouble after a driver update.
That knowledge comes from playing, from installing, and from hearing back from the customers who bought the thing last year. It is the part of the service that does not show up in a price comparison, and it is the reason most of our business comes from people who bought once and came back.
7Brands and genuine stock
We stock recognised manufacturers across every category we sell, sourced through legitimate supply channels. Counterfeit and grey-market equipment is a real problem in this market — cables that fail under load, wireless systems on frequencies that are not licensed here, power supplies that destroy the unit they were sold with.
We do not carry it. What we sell is the genuine article, it carries the manufacturer's warranty, and when a claim has to be made we have the paperwork to make it.
Where we stock a budget alternative to a well-known product, we say plainly that that is what it is, and we tell you where it compromises. There is nothing wrong with a budget instrument for a student's first year — there is something wrong with selling one as though it were something else.
8Advice before you buy
Ask us before you order. It costs you nothing and it is the part of this job we most enjoy.
Tell us the room — its size, its ceiling, whether it is concrete or carpeted, how many people it holds. Tell us what has to be heard: a full band, a single speaker, a keyboard and two vocal mics, a choir. Tell us who will be operating it, because a system that needs an engineer is useless to a church with a rotating volunteer on the desk. And tell us your budget honestly, including whether it has to cover stands, cables and cases, because those are the costs that ambush people.
From that we can tell you what will work, what is worth spending more on, and — often — what you do not need to buy at all. A customer who buys the wrong rig once does not come back, so there is no version of this where overselling you is good for us.
9After the sale
The relationship does not end when the equipment leaves the shop. Setup questions, a fault two weeks in, a warranty claim two months in, a channel that has stopped working the night before a service — the same number answers.
Where a product carries a manufacturer's warranty we handle the claim with the manufacturer or distributor on your behalf, rather than handing you a number to call. Where something is faulty on arrival, we replace or refund it and cover the return — you should not be out of pocket for our error.
If we do not know the answer to something, we will say so and go and find out. That is a better outcome for everybody than a confident guess.
10Delivery and collection
We deliver throughout Nairobi and to every county in Kenya, by rider, courier or — for larger and more fragile equipment — a dedicated vehicle. Delivery cost depends on where you are and what you have ordered, and we confirm it with you before anything is dispatched.
